Lather's Blather Episode #13.5: A Rather Jolly-Looking Flamethrower

Time to check in with a new episode--but it's not the one you were expecting! For reasons revealed within the podcast itself, Episode 14 isn't ready yet, so rather than break my old record of time elapsed between podcasts I've elected instead to turn out a shorter episode based on something a bit easier to review: The Penguins of Madagascar.

Direct download is here, or if you prefer the streaming version is in the Gcast player to your right or in the Podcast Pickle Player. Maybe. If it works.

Since no one else has commented on this post and I KNOW you'll read this out in the next show, Jeff, I just wanted to say that I'm going to try and seek The Penguins of Madagascar on DVD. The Madagascar films have never done it for me. I find them lazy and complete hack jobs. DreamWorks started with some potential into CG with Shrek. Shrek was good in that it skewed pop culture by doing it in mainstream animation. And then...DW lost the plot and point and their credibility with things like the aforementioned Madagascar and Shark Tale and even when they do something relatively good like Kung-Fu Panda they immediately announce a sequel.

I don't know how much of the garbage they produced was dictated by Jeffery Katzenberg and how much was just accidental but since they keep making muck and keep recording profits we can look forward to more of their "creative talent" for years to come.

I like it when a side project for something awful is actually good. Hopefully the Penguin DVD's are not far off.

Venture Bros! More Venture Bros! I demand more Venture Bros!
